How To Find Success

You can find hundreds of different suggestions for becoming a success. Many of them may actually be helpful to you. The problem is the overwhelming amount of success literature available to you. Each author creates a more or less complete system of practices and methods for achieving success. Many of these authors contradict each other and warn you not to follow ideas supported by other authors.

Here’s a simple plan that you can start right away and test as you go: you’ll be able to prove each step by doing something that ALL the self-help experts agree is necessary:
• Decide on a definite, major purpose for your life
• Write down what you want to accomplish – create a mission statement
• Spend time every day repeating your mission statement OUT LOUD
• Spend some more time every day clearly visualizing or picturing the person you want to become – develop a detailed, clearly focused image of yourself as you will be.

Definiteness of purpose is the first factor you need to incorporate. A vague or unclear purpose in life will never get you any further than you already are. You must be bold and think big. A mediocre goal or desire will not provide you with the powerful emotional desire or motivation to reach such a puny end. Know that a powerful desire, fueled by a big dream or vision, can carry you through any temporary failure.

Write down your goal and include a definite plan for achieving it. Even if you are uncertain of all the details now, start with what you have and where you are. Revise your plan as you learn more and achieve more, but never surrender your plan. Make sure you set dates for reaching each of the goals you need to achieve. Be courageous and make your short-term goals very short. Don’t allow a simple goal to become a long-term project.

Read your main mission statement out loud every day. Keep repeating it on a regular basis and you will train your mind to accept your mission as a real thing. Devote at least 30 minutes every day to picturing the person you will become as a result of your mission statement. Make your picture or visualization clearer and clearer each time you do this inner work. The more you are able to create, in your mind, the end result you want, the more you will attract and hold onto the very things you need to succeed.

Get started and don’t quit!
